On All Saints’ Day, Bishop Edmund Whalen and clergy from the archdiocese led an intimate group of 30 pilgrims on a one-day journey through New York City in celebration of the Jubilee Year of Hope.

The pilgrimage began at the Shrine of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini in Washington Heights and continued to several of the city’s most historic Catholic sites, including Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, the Seton Shrine, and Saint Peter’s Church on Barclay Street, the oldest Catholic parish in New York.

At Saint Peter’s, Bishop Whalen, joined by Father Luke Sweeney and the Pastor, Father Jarlath Quinn, reflected on the meaning of pilgrimage and the faith of the city’s earliest Catholics.

The day concluded at the Basilica of Old Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, where Cardinal Dolan celebrated Mass and installed Father Daniel Ray, LC, as pastor. Afterward, the cardinal greeted the pilgrims at a small reception.

In the Jubilee Year of Hope, this pilgrimage invited Catholics to rediscover the sacred spaces that tell the story of faith in New York, a city where saints once prayed, and future ones walk in their footsteps.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, attorney, and devoted servant of his faith and community, Kelleher entered eternal life suddenly on August 19, 2026, at the age of 77.
