Parishioners at the Church of Saint Augustine in Larchmont gathered for a farewell Mass honoring Bishop John Bonnici as he prepares to begin a new chapter of ministry in Rochester, New York.

After more than thirty years serving the faithful of the Archdiocese of New York as a priest and Auxiliary Bishop, he reflected with gratitude on the people and communities he encountered throughout his ministry.

Friends and parishioners shared memories of a shepherd known for his humility, warmth, and deep personal care for those he served. Many recalled how he walked with families through life’s most important moments, celebrating marriages, baptisms, and funerals across generations.

Now appointed by Pope Leo to lead the Diocese of Rochester, Bishop Bonnici begins a new chapter of service to the Church, carrying with him the faith and friendships formed during decades of ministry in New York.
