Holy Week is about to begin, and the Church turns her gaze to the Cross, to the final words spoken by Christ before His death.
In this week’s installment of “Fridays from the Foot of the Cross,” we reflect on the sixth word of Jesus:
“It is finished.” (John 19:30)
These words are not a cry of defeat, but a declaration of fulfillment.
As St. Paul of the Cross reflects, “The Passion of Christ is the greatest and most stupendous work of Divine Love.”
As we approach Good Friday, the Church invites us to remain at the foot of the Cross and to contemplate the depth of Christ’s love for us.
Next Friday is Good Friday, when we will reflect on the final word of Christ from the Cross.
