On February 12, 32 Maryknoll Sisters celebrated their jubilees, each marking at least 60 years of service to the order.

Celebrating her 85-year jubilee was Sister Helen Werner.

“Sister Helen Werner was born on January 5, 1920, the same year that the Maryknoll Sisters Congregation was recognized by Rome. The family lived outside of a small village by the name of Fowler, Michigan, on an 80-acre farm, where they were quite self-sustained with raising their own garden vegetables, cows, and chickens. She grew up in a healthy atmosphere and a happy family, being the youngest with two brothers and five sisters,” according to the Maryknoll Sisters website.

“Helen entered the Maryknoll Sisters on June 7, 1938, with a dream that started ten years before when she was eight and her older sister Dorothy (Sister Celine Marie) joined Maryknoll.”

Along with Sister Helen, six sisters celebrated their 80-year jubilee: Sisters Anne Karen Brannick; Anne Carol Brielmaier; Rose Bernadette Gallagher; Ann Teresa Kamachi; Cecilia LeBlanc; and Anne Sullivan.

Twelve members of the Maryknoll Sisters celebrated their 75-year jubilee: Sisters Mary Boyce; Anne Correale; Mary Ann Duffy; Mary Grace Krieger; Rose Andree Krieger; Maureen Mitten; Marie Rosso; Theresa Lizak; Elizabeth Salmon; Laura Magallanes; Miriam Frances Perlewitz; and Thecla Tsuruda.

Celebrating their 70-year jubilee are Sisters Helen Carpenter; Marian Teresa Dury; Grace Corde Myerjack; Mary Anne O’Donnell; and Joan Toohig.

Eight sisters reached their 60-year jubilee: Sisters Paulette Yeung; Margaret Dillon; Elizabeth Erbland; Doreen Longres; Kathleen Magee; Kathleen Reiley; Marie Jane Heckathorn; and Veronica Schweyen.

“Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, you are acquitted of your sins,” said Father Giuseppe Siniscalchi, CFR.
