St. Nicholas National Shrine and Greek Orthodox Church at the World Trade Center Prepares for 9/11 Anniversary

On Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, the St. Nicholas National Shrine and Greek Orthodox Church will be holding an interfaith prayer service to commemorate the anniversary. Archbishop Ronald Hicks will join the Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros, and other New York faith leaders to remember those who died on the day and in the aftermath.
The proistamenos, or administrative head, of the shrine, Fr. Andreas Vithoulkas, sat down with The Good Newsroom to discuss the Sept. 11 tragedy on its 25th anniversary and how the nearby shrine fosters those still grieving
Archbishop Ronald Hicks, Archbishop of New York, will celebrate a special Memorial Mass to mark the 25th Anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 5 p.m. in St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
