Cardinal Timothy Dolan requested that Catholics of the Archdiocese of New York pray for Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI in a statement Wednesday morning

Cardinal Timothy Dolan asked the Catholic faith of the Archdiocese of New York and all people of good will to pray for Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan issued a statement this morning, requesting that Catholics of the Archdiocese of New York pray Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.

“With great faith in God’s goodness, I join with Pope Francis in praying for Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, and ask the Catholic faithful of the Archdiocese of New York, and all people of good will to do the same.”

As we breathe a sigh of relief that Pope Francis no longer seems in immediate danger of death, it is worth pausing to reflect on the profound effect that the pope's hospital stay had on Catholics and non-Catholics alike around the world.
