Cardinal Dolan Issues Parish Decrees

The decrees were made public to all the faithful through their publication on the archdiocesan website

After extensive consultation, Cardinal Dolan issued the following 10 decrees, three church relegations, six parish mergers, and the configuration of deanery boundaries:

1. Relegation of Saint John the Evangelist Church, in the Parish of Holy Family – Saint John the Evangelist – Our Lady of Peace, South Manhattan (effective July 9, 2025)

2. Relegation of Sacred Heart Chapel, in the Parish of Sacred Heart – Sacred Heart Chapel – Saint Patrick), Orange (effective August 11, 2025)

3. Relegation of Saint Veronica Church, in the Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe at St Bernard – Saint Veronica, South Manhattan (effective August 11, 2025)

4. Merger of the Parishes of Saint Peter, Liberty– Immaculate Conception, Woodbourne, and Saint Aloysius-Gate of Heaven-Sacred Heart, Livingston Manor– Sullivan County (effective September 1, 2025)

5. Merger of the Parishes of Saint Peter-Saint Anne of the Lake-Saint Joseph, Monticello, and Saint Joseph, Wurtsboro – Sullivan County (effective September 1, 2025)

6. Merger of the Parishes of Holy Cross-Saint Patrick, Callicoon– Saint Mary, Obernburg and Saint George-Saint Francis, Jeffersonville – Sullivan County (effective September 1, 2025)

7. Merger of the Parishes of Saint Francis Xavier-Our Lady of the Lake, Narrowsburg , and Saint Anthony of Padua-Saint Thomas Aquinas-Sacred Heart, Yulan – Sullivan County (effective September 1, 2025)

8. Merger of the Parishes of Saint Joseph, Kingston (451) and Saint Peter, Rosendale (531) – Ulster County (effective September 1, 2025)

9. Merger of the Parishes of Saint Mary-Holy Name of Jesus-Saint Peter, Kingston (384) and Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary-Sacred Heart, Port Ewen (381) – Ulster County (effective September 1, 2025)

10. Configuration of the Deaneries of the Archdiocese of New York (effective September 1, 2025)

The three organizations held “United in Hope for Ukraine,” a special evening focused on the continued need for aid and solutions in Ukraine with Metropolitan Archbishop Borys Gudziak of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia.
