On Wednesday, March 4, Cardinal Timothy Dolan was officially installed as co-chief chaplain of the New York Police Department (NYPD), serving alongside Reverend A. R. Bernard of Brooklyn’s Christian Cultural Center. The installation ceremony, held at One Police Plaza, brought together Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, along with city leaders, law enforcement officials, and members of the faith community. During the ceremony, Cardinal Dolan reflected on the important role that chaplains play in supporting the spiritual and emotional well-being of the NYPD. The Archbishop-emeritus of New York expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to continue serving and supporting officers and their families.
