Hundreds of families gathered on Wednesday at 1430 Plimpton Avenue in the Bronx for a joyful Thanksgiving giveaway hosted by Catholic Charities of New York in partnership with Astor Services, Fordham University’s Center for Community Engaged Learning, Bestcare Home Care, NYC Council Member Althea Stevens, The People’s C, and Town and Town.

The event provided free turkeys, pork shoulders, fresh produce, and classic holiday trimmings, along with a signature stuffing prepared by a local chef. Volunteers, including students from Fordham University, helped distribute the food and welcome families. Organizers said the shared goal was to make the Thanksgiving holiday a little brighter for households in need and to celebrate the strength of the Bronx community.

During this holy and penitential season, fasting is required of adult Catholics between the ages of 18 and 59.
