Twenty-six young adults with special needs received the Sacrament of Confirmation during a Mass celebrated by Archbishop Ronald Hicks on Sunday, May 31, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
Organized by the Archdiocese of New York’s Office of Youth Faith Formation, the annual celebration brought together candidates, families, sponsors, and catechists for a day of prayer, faith, and community.
Archbishop Hicks reflected on the witness of the candidates and their families, connecting the celebration to Pope Leo XIV’s recent document “Magnifica Humanitas” and its message about the dignity and value of every person.
Archbishop Ronald Hicks points out a line in the Gospel that’s often forgotten, and reminds us that we can always go deeper in our understanding of Jesus.
