Attracting 90 people, including 20 youths and children, the Church of St. Mary’s in Kingston hosted a Spanish-language Lenten Evening of Recollection preached by Father Adaly Rosado, Jr., administrator of St. Joan of Arc, The Bronx.

The theme was “Before and After Walking with Christ on the Via Dolorosa” as Father Rosado dedicated one conference to each part, bifurcated by the Stations of the Cross in Spanish led by Father Arthur Rojas, pastor of St. Mary-St. Peter-Presentation-Sacred Heart Parish. The evening’s program was enlivened by hymns led by the musical team of the “Grupo de Oracion,” the Hispanic charismatic prayer group of the parish, which also provided a Lenten repast and fellowship afterward.

“Along with our English-language Evening of Recollection on March 4, which attracted more than 40 people, the attendance on March 6 bespeaks the thirst for God and His things in the Hudson Valley, whether Anglo or Hispanic,” Father Rojas said. Several participants on March 6 came from as far away as Ellenville and Highland.

St. Mary-St. Peter-Presentation-Sacred Heart Parish serves lower Kingston and the town of Esopus, including the hamlet of Port Ewen, where Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church is located. Further Lenten programming includes Stations of the Cross offered three times on Fridays: in English after the 9 a.m. Mass at Kingston and at 6:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 1055 Broadway, Esopus, and in Spanish at 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s, Kingston. Father Marc Oliver will lead a Gospel Encounter session in English at Sacred Heart on Saturday, March 28, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. No reservation is required to attend.

The Knights of Columbus has always stood in solidarity with the Holy Father, recognizing in him a spiritual father who calls the world not to division, but to unity, not to conflict, but to peace. In this moment, we reaffirm that commitment with clarity and conviction.
