Supporters of Inner-City Scholarship Fund (Inner-City) raised $1.55 million at the 47th Annual Awards Dinner on Tuesday, December 3. Nearly 350 guests attended the event at the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan.

Funds from the evening will help support Inner-City in its mission to provide scholarships and tuition assistance for low-income students to attend Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of New York.

His Eminence, Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York, presented the 2024 Inner-City Scholarship Fund Award to Stephen J. Squeri, Chairman, CEO, and Co-Founder of American Express for his generous commitment to helping support Catholic school educational institutions. Recently, Good Day New York featured Squeri in a segment spotlighting this dedication to the organization and highlighting his impact on Inner-City students.

“We are so grateful for the support of our honoree, Stephen Squeri, and the hundreds of wonderful New Yorkers who came out to support our efforts to provide scholarships to thousands of students. The opportunity to receive a Catholic education provides hope for a brighter future and there are no limits to what these students can achieve,” said Jill Lloyd, Executive Director of Inner-City Scholarship Fund.

The event featured remarks by Peter T. Grauer, President of Bloomberg Inc., Chairman Emeritus of Bloomberg, and President of Inner-City Scholarship Fund. This year’s featured student speaker was former scholarship recipient Rick Cordero, La Salle Academy Alumni, Class of 2024, and Manhattan University, Class of 2028. Guests enjoyed special performances by the choir from Good Shepherd School in Upper Manhattan and the NFL Players Choir.

Inner-City Scholarship Fund provides scholarships and tuition assistance to over 9,000 low-income students in Catholic schools throughout the Archdiocese of New York. The Annual Awards Dinner generates funds that are essential to Inner-City’s ability to accomplish its mission.
