Broadcaster Father Dave Dwyer, CSP, is scheduled to present a Lenten retreat day for extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, lectors, parish musicians, and church ushers at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers.
The Saturday, March 7, gathering, to be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., is called Lenten Day of Prayer and Reflection for Liturgical Ministers.
Father Dwyer is a Manhattan-based Paulist priest and executive director of Busted Halo Ministries. He is the publisher of BustedHalo.com and the host of “The Busted Halo Show with Father Dave,” a call-in radio talk show airing five nights per week on SiriusXM’s The Catholic Channel during which he answers questions of faith.
“It’s important for all Christians to be spiritually nourished regularly. The Church’s season of Lent provides an opportunity to carve out the time to refuel our spirits and renew our faith,” Father Dwyer told The Good Newsroom.
“Yet all too often, those in ministry are so busy during Lent that it’s hard for them to take time for their own renewal. That’s why I’m glad that many of those who serve in liturgical ministries in the Archdiocese of New York will pause for a while to allow the Holy Spirit to inspire and strengthen them for the busy weeks ahead,” the priest added.
He also noted, “I hope that the day of prayer and reflection will provide a little time and space for those who work so hard in our parishes to make our worship meaningful, to listen to God’s still, small voice, and for them to be renewed in their fervor for serving the People of God.”
The Lenten Day event is being organized by the Office of Liturgy of the Archdiocese of New York.
The registration fee is $40, which includes lunch. For more information, visit the Lenten Day of Prayer and Reflection for Liturgical Ministers.
