Michael David Weekes, sacristan of St. Patrick’s Cathedral for more than 30 years, entered eternal life on October 20, 2025.
Born on January 6, 1938, Weekes received a 2008 Pierre Toussaint Medal, “presented to distinguished persons for their positive leadership, extraordinary efforts in support of human life, human rights, and social justice, spiritual values, and quality education for all,” according to the Archdiocese of New York’s Office of Black Ministry.
