Richard C. McLaughlin was born on September 23, 1948, in Mount Vernon, and he peacefully departed this life on November 14, 2025, in Hawthorne, with his family by his side at the age of 77. Richard was a dedicated office manager at New Rochelle Water, where he applied his skills with diligence and care. His work in the utility industry was a reflection of his commitment to serving his community. Richard embodied the spirit of lifelong learning and imparted wisdom to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Emily McLaughlin, and their three sons, John (Kristina), Kevin, and Christopher McLaughlin. He took immense joy in his role as a grandfather to Jonathan, Connor, Liam, and Avery McLaughlin, filling their lives with laughter and love. Richard is also survived by his sister, Madeline, and his brother, Albert McLaughlin, who will cherish his memory. Along with his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a brother, John McLaughlin.

Richard became an ordained deacon on June 23, 2001, by Cardinal Edward Egan and served as a deacon at Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne. There, he trained altar servers, Eucharistic ministers, officiated at baptisms, assisted and coordinated special liturgies such as First Holy Communion and Confirmation, and assisted at weekly liturgies and other special celebrations. Richard was known for his warmth and kindness, always willing to lend a helping hand or share a thoughtful word. His gentle spirit touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Richard’s memory to The Holy Rosary Church in Hawthorne, reflecting his passion for community and service.

As we grieve the loss of Richard, we also celebrate the beautiful life he led and the love he gave. May he rest in peace, embracing eternally the love and light he brought to the world.
