Sister Lois entered the Sisters of Saint John the Baptist in 1959 at Immaculate Heart Novitiate, in Glen Cove. During her religious life, Sister Lois earned degrees in secondary education (English), pastoral counseling, along with being a certified as a school administrator.

Sister encouraged each of her students to be the best they could be using the talents God gave them, to the best of their ability.
