NEWBURGH – There’s still time for runners of all ages to sign up for the sweetest race in the Hudson Valley: Bishop Dunn Memorial School’s Eighth Annual Cupcake 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, Sept. 20.

The event, featuring a race for adults and another for children 10 and under, will be held at Mount Saint Mary College, 330 Powell Ave., Newburgh. To register or for more information, click here.

Refreshments, including cupcakes, will be provided by local businesses, and proceeds from the event will be used for scholarships to the students of Bishop Dunn.

The adult race route offers Hudson Valley views

Runners and walkers will take on a scenic route through the Mount campus, overlooking the Hudson Valley with river views. The race starts on the track around the baseball field and continues through the campus, looping around twice before finishing behind Bishop Dunn Memorial School.

The adult race begins at 9:30 a.m. Cost is $25 for 5K pre-registrants, plus online sign-up fees, and online pre-registration ends Sept. 17. Same-day registration is $30 in cash or check made payable to Bishop Dunn Memorial School. The first 100 pre-registered 5K entrants will receive a T-shirt.

Youngest runners get their own quarter-mile race

The Mini Cupcake Race is a quarter-mile fun run for children 10 and under. It starts at 9 a.m. on the track around the baseball field. Cost is $10 for pre-registrants, plus online sign-up fees, and online registration also closes Sept. 17. Participants registering the day of the event should bring cash. Free event T-shirts will be given to the first 40 pre-registered fun run participants.
