The Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral unveiled its newly restored 1868 Erben Organ during a special concert and fundraiser on June 11. Following more than two years of restoration work, the instrument was heard publicly in its restored form while original artwork discovered beneath layers of gold paint was revealed for the first time in more than a century. The restoration highlighted the historical significance of one of the nation’s finest surviving Erben organs and underscored the Basilica’s role as the first cathedral of the archdiocese. The evening featured a concert led by Organist and Music Director Jared Lamenzo and raised funds to support the Basilica’s sacred music program.
