Pentecost Parish Mission gatherings run nightly from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
A three-night retreat called Pentecost Parish Mission is set for the evenings of Monday, May 18, Tuesday, May 19. Wednesday, May 20 at Our Lady of Loretto Church in the Putnam County town of Cold Spring.
“Join us for three nights of deep prayer, dynamic teachings, and transformative encounters that will help prepare our hearts for Pentecost – free of charge and open to all,” organizers said in promotional material.
The speakers
The featured speakers will be Father Matthew MacDonald, Father Carlos Germosen, and Father Joseph Meagher. The gatherings are being planned by Our Lady of Loretto with support from the Office of Adult Discipleship, Archdiocese of New York. The parish is located at 24 Fair St., Cold Spring. The times each night will be 6:30 to 9 p.m.
Father MacDonald is administrator of St. Joseph/Immaculate Conception Parish, Millbrook (Dutchess County); Father Germosen is a parochial vicar at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in the Bronx; Father Meagher is pastor of St. Antoninus Church in Newark, N.J.
“Our hope is that all who attend will experience the Holy Spirit in a fresh and loving way to help us all to become holier with the power of the Holy Spirit working within us,” Cathy Schwarz-Sapeta, a Loretto parishioner and event promoter, told The Good Newsroom via email this week.
The Holy Spirit
“The Holy Spirit is a Paraclete – a helper in everyday life. The Holy Spirit as a person in the Trinity desires a relationship that gives us the fullness of the faith,” Schwarz-Sapeta added, also citing John 15:5: “I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing.”
“We hope the new seed of Life will open people to deeper prayer, Scripture study, and new means of Christian service,” she noted. For more information, contact the parish office at (845) 265-3718, or email: lorettochurch@gmail.com.
