Addressing the Root Causes of Migration

David Cronin, Senior Policyand Legislative Specialist at Catholic Relief Services, speaks to Catholic Faith Network about the need to address the root causes of migration that are driving migrants and asylum seekers to the United States.

He says, “access to asylum should not be limited” and that a change in border policy alone (like the lifting of Title 42), “does not change the conditions that are actually driving migration in the first place.” Until governments do that, he says, “we will not be able to adequately meet the needs” of the many people seeking safety and opportunity in the U.S.
